1. Nigerian Flag
The Flag of Nigeria was designed in 1959. It was first officially hoisted on October 1 of 1960. The flag’s colors, green and white, represent Nigeria’s natural wealth and peace respectively.
2. Nigerian Motto
As of 1978, the motto of Nigeria is “Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress”, and was formerly “Peace, Unity, Freedom”.
3. Nigerian National Flower
The Costus Spectabilis, more commonly known as the Yellow Trumpet, is the Nigerian national flower and is found in abundance over the African continent.
4. Nigerian National Anthem
“Arise O Compatriots” is the National Anthem of Nigeria, composed and put together by the Nigerian Police Band back in 1978.
5. Nigerian Language
Over 521 languages have been spoken in Nigeria, however today, the official language is English and was chosen in order to facilitate the communication and cultural unity between citizens.
